Rick Polhamus will bring the message, drawing on his long experience with Christian Peacemaker Teams and On Earth Peace.

Bethany MA student and self-published poet, Travis Poling, will serve as our worship leader.

This fall's preaching series, "Roots and Wings," will examine the past and future of a different Church of the Brethren tradition, belief, or practice each week.

Bethany's Student Leadership Team will provide the worship leadership for this opening chapel.

All are invited to worship with the Bethany community tomorrow,
Wednesday April 28 at 11:20am in Nicarry Chapel.

The sermon, entitled "An Ode to Doubt," will reflect on the doubts of
the apostle Thomas as he encounters the resurrected Jesus. Our guest
preacher will be Carol Wise, the Executive Director of Brethren
Mennonite Council for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender
Interests.

Carrie Fry-Miller will lead worship, and a choral ensemble will sing
"Spirit of Life." Through prayer, song and story, we will explore what
it means to worship a God who dwells on the margins of society and of
our expectations.

Come ready to find God on the margins,
Come that we might know God in our doubts,
as the Spirit sets all of us free to live anew
in this season of resurrection.

The third open forum/listening together time will take place on Thursday April 22 at 4:30p. All seminary community members are welcome to attend.

This conversation with Carol Wise, executive director of Brethren Mennonite Council for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Interests, will focus on recent Annual Conference discussions regarding the Statement of Confession and Commitment and the query, "Language on Same Sex Covenantal Relationships." Come hear Monica Rice share her ongoing Thesis research about the Church of the Brethren tradition of the Prayer Covering in Bethany Classroom 40: Why? Because it will be great!

Graduating student Becky Rhodes will preach a sermon entitled "Afterword," based on John 21:1-19, exploring how our love for God drives our commitment to discipleship. Chris Fretz will lead worship.

Everyone is invited to a voice recital featuring Holly Hathaway (Bethany alum, 2009), soprano with Bethany Hancock, soprano and Sue Merchanthouse, piano. The program includes French and Italian opera selections, sacred and secular songs, and Broadway hits. The event takes place Tuesday, May 11, at 7 p.m. in Nicarry Chapel at Bethany Theological Seminary. Refreshments will follow.

All are invited to Bethany worship this Wednesday, March 24 in Nicarry Chapel, 11:20am - 12 noon, where we will ask, How do we seek the peace of the city in the most violent city in America? Saginaw was recently named the most violent city, per capita, in the US. Nate Polzin, '06 BTS grad, will preach about "Seeking the Peace of Saginaw" where he lives and pastors in both a church plant and a university-based ministry. Anna Lisa Gross will lead worship, and we'll explore questions such as: What does shalom mean in our lives? What is the will of God for our lives?

Join in honoring International Women's Day in Bethany worship on March 10th (11:20am to 12 noon in Nicarry Chapel). Dawn Ottoni Wilhelm will preach a sermon entitled "Hearing HerStory in God's Story" on the often overlooked story of Zipporah in Exodus 4. Come remember the struggles, stories, and hope of women in your life and across the globe. Please contact worship leader Katie Shaw Thompson if you would be interested in joining a group of singers and drummers for a special processional.

Bethany Theological Seminary presents a public viewing of the documentary film, "Every War Has Two Losers: A Poet's Meditation on Peace, A Film Based on the Journals of William Stafford."

This event will take place in Bethany's Nicarry Chapel, 7-9pm, Saturday March 27, 2010.

In addition to the 30 minute film, the evening will feature:

• Presentation by Jeff Gundy, Professor of English at Bluffton University, poet and
  author of Walker in the Fog: On Mennonite Writing, 2008 Recipient of The Dale W. Brown Book Award for Outstanding Scholarship in Anabaptist and Pietist Studies.
• Contributions from local Stafford scholars & enthusiasts.
• Conversations with the audience following the film.
